concerts: current season

Obligato / states of mind

The season features music for chorus plus a solo instrument played by a virtuoso performer. Each concert evokes a different mental state, consistent with the character of the instrument. BASSOON/ironic draws on the aphoristic sensibilities of a variety of composers and poets as they contemplate life's meaning. GUITAR/nostalgic uses the sound of the guitar for effects of passionate yearning. MARIMBA/exotic exploits the otherworldly pulsing and throbbing of this colorfully percussive instrument in a spirit of contemplation and discovery.
