The US premiere of Falling Star, for chorus and viola da gamba, by Philippe Hersant on a text of John Donne; the exquisite Requiem by Jehan Alain, killed in World War Two at age 29; a stunning discovery by the forgotten early 20th century master Dynam-Victor Fumet; an early Renaissance Mass by Guillaume Dufay; music for viola da gamba performed by Doug Balliett.

Cantori New York gave the acclaimed New York premiere of American composer Frank Ferko’s Stabat Mater in 2004, and are delighted to respond to popular demand by bringing it back in 2012. In this monumental multi-movement a cappella work for chorus and soprano, Ferko interpolates the medieval hymn text with ancient and modern poetry, traversing a variety of colors and styles to create a powerfully communicative musical tapestry. “A transcendently beautiful work” – Fanfare Magazine; “compelling listening” – Gramophone.

The U.S. premiere of Kenneth Leighton’s ravishing cantata Birds for two pianos and celesta, on poetry by Aristophanes, Hardy, Shelley and others, in the hauntingly melodious English style of Vaughan Williams. The world premiere of a cantata by Erol Gurol on Turkish love poetry. The revival of neglected works for chorus and piano by early 20th century American maverick Wallingford Riegger.
