Cantori’s members are fluent musicians with significant prior experience, strongly committed to the group. We tackle challenging repertoire in a rehearsal atmosphere that is focused, stimulating, and fun! Candidates should prepare a brief classical selection (aria, folk song, or choral excerpt); you’ll also vocalize and sight sing. We hear auditions year-round, keeping a waitlist when necessary. Fill out the form to schedule yours now!
Rehearsals are Thursday evenings, 7-10pm at St John’s in the Village (11th Street near 7th Ave) between Labor Day and Memorial Day, plus a Saturday retreat each quarter.
Our 2023-24 programming includes:
Six concerts of innovative new music: two each in March, May and November
Two recording sessions
Holiday concerts
Guest engagements at institutions around the city
Qualified members also enjoy opportunities to solo, conduct, and compose for the group.
Cantori’s dues are much lower than peer ensembles. In addition, we guarantee that no one’s financial situation is ever a barrier to membership. We will confidentially arrange a payment schedule, fee reduction, or waiver — no questions asked.
